L'OREAL TOTAL REPAIR 5 INSTANT SMOOTHING AND NOURISHING OIL SERUM REVIEW

L'oreal Total Repair 5 Instant Smoothing And  Nourishing Oil               Serum Review

Hi, Everyone. Hope you are all having a relaxing Sunday. I thought of reviewing the hair serum that I am currently using. Serums are a crucial part of my hair regime especially when I think I can skip conditioner on certain days. I didn't think twice when I saw this on the aisles of the supermarket rack as it was on trial offer and was easy on the pocket. Let's have a look at this product thoroughly.

L'OREAL TOTAL REPAIR 5 INSTANT SMOOTHING AND  NOURISHING OIL SERUM
Treat yourself to the ultimate care system with L’Oreal Paris's New Total Repair 5 Instant Smoothing and Nourishing Oil Serum. This miraculous product’s technological innovation with ceramide-cement helps protect and repair hair damage caused by daily aggressors like the sun, pollution and water. It helps to avoid tangles and breakage, leaving hair smooth and nourished.

INGREDIENTS
Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Alcohol denat, Limonene, Benzyl salicylate, Linalool, Benzyl alcohol, 2-oleamido-1, 3-octadicanediol, Alpha-isomethyl ionone, Geraniol, Butylphenyl , Methylpropional, Citronellol, Hexyl cinnamal, Fragrance (F.I.L. C37906/1)

BEST FOR

Damaged and thin hair, split ends.
When applied, the pro-keratin and ceramide formula instantly attaches itself to damaged areas, repairs and unifies the hair's surface, creating a protective shield against further damage and split ends.
Ideal for use on towel-dried damp hair after shampooing.

HOW TO USE
Apply a few drops of serum depending on length and thickness of hair. Can also be used on completely dry hair to soften and smoothen it, prior to combing.

MY EXPERIENCE AND THOUGHTS
I always look for frizz fighting and control whenever I pick up a serum.
I cannot give this product a 100 marks based on that.
But what I did like was that it was not too heavy or thick in consistency compared to most products out there.
It detangles hair efficiently when used in small quantities and will not leave you feeling greasy if used in minimal proportions.
However if you do apply quite a bit and then do not wash your hair the next day, it will make your hair limp and scalp greasy.
It did not calm small fly aways to the precision that I wanted.
It does give hair some shine.
It is reasonable and cost effective. It lasted me over two months. I have long hair.
It works well as a heat protectant.
It won't fix split ends or miraculously make your hair more vital and strong in any way.
Fragrance is not bothersome.
I prefer using this only on damp hair as it seems to work more efficiently that way.
I will not consider repurchase as I would like to try something lighter and that's better at taming frizz.

Hole in my wallet: Rs.140(trial offer rs.125) for 40ml

  1. Nice review dear :) I guess its not taming flyaways is becoz its silicone content.. I've tried using a leave in conditioner as friz control and has worked for me..

    2. you're welcome dear :) ya parabens have become the bane of our existence, I'm always on the look out for paraben free products.. and as for silicones, if possible one should avoid them in hair care products.. let me know how you found the product to be :)
      take care

    3. yes, indeed. we really need to start taking care of ourselves beginning with what goes inside and on our body. Cosmetic companies need to start re-thinking their ingredients from now. thank you, for your reply :)

    4. I was looking for a good serum. Maybe I won't try this one. I was wondering how the Dove serum might be. Any idea?

    5. I haven't tried the Dove serum yet. Haven't heard rave reviews on it. The loreal Liss professional series is supposed to be good but expensive.

    6. Yup! I had tried the liss leave in conditioner and it was really good. It helped my hair from frizzing in Kolkata, where it is always so humid! But you're right, it's expensive.

  7. I don't use L'Oreal hair stuff. Looks like this serum is a give-and-take. But glad you figured out a way to get the most out of it though.

    1. Thank you for your comment, most of the reputed drug store hair stuff we get in India comprises Loreal. There is a dearth of really good brands here, hope to try something nicer soon :)

  10. Even I didn't like the product. I was looking for a serum that would tame my frizzy high volume hair...the product didn't deliver on that front....

    1. The higher end loreal ones like the liss range are the only ones that suited my hair, I use Pantene pink otherwise but growing out of it now. My search is still on too, Ansh :)

  14. Ohh..I thought this would work out!! But sadly, it didn't! Well, for frizzy hair you should actually nourish your hair with extra virgin olive oil, it works miraculously on frizzy hair. My sister had damn frizzy hair, but when she used it and there was a miraculous change in her hair, her hair was normal and bouncy. You can try it too!! If you want I can tell you the brand and the website, where to buy it..

    1. Wow, luminousha! Seriously? Do tell me about the brand and website for that olive oil. I will surely try it out, anything to beat the frizzies! When should it be used? Before shower? how much? Am excited now :))

    2. Its not that you should use just before or after the shower, you have to massage this oil into your scalp and let it work on your hair overnight and then when you shampoo your hair the next day, you'd get good results. Well, its Leonardo Extra Virgin Olive oil and you can buy it here: http://stores.ebay.in/jmdenterprisesonline

    4. Its a pleasure to help you out dear!! Bdw what type of skin do you have? If combination/dry, then you can use it for face also twice a week,,but if oily then don't use it on face!! U must be knowing that, right?
