Bausch and Lomb Purevision 2 Soft Contact Lenses Review

BAUSCH + LOMB PUREVISION 2 SOFT CONTACT LENSES REVIEW
BAUSCH +LOMB PUREVISION 2 SOFT CONTACT LENSES
I have been searching eternally for that perfect pair of soft contact lenses since ages. I started my journey into the land of the lenses from the twelfth grade. My first pair of them were the yearly pair from the same brand which I found very uncomfortable to wear in those days. I switched to Johnson and Johnson last year with the yearly pair and the disposable version, Acuvue 2 but nothing was remarkably great. I used to wonder how some girls used to wear them from morning to night without a blink of an eye. That's when I dug deeper and was told to spend some more money and get these. Read on to find out if they met my sensitive needs.
BAUSCH+LOMB PUREVISION 2 SOFT CONTACT LENSES

Purevision 2 HD contact lenses by Bausch & Lomb feature the latest in contact lens technology with the introduction of High definition optics! HD Optics provides you with crisp, clear vision while reducing the negative effects of halos and glare. These ultra thin lenses also feature PureVision's patented ComfortMoist Technology allowing for high oxygen transmission keeping your lenses moist and eyes bright!
BEST FOR
All day long comfort
For those with sensitivity issues.
Made with Balafilcon A
Visibility Tinted Contact Lenses

MY EXPERIENCE AND THOUGHTS
They are visibility tinted and thin, you won't miss them because of the pale blue colour but drop them and like any other pair of lenses you will have trouble finding them.
These are definitely the most comfortable pair of lenses I have ever owned or tried.
I recommend them whole-heartedly to those who want superior wearing power for above eight hours.
From the first instant, you do not feel like you have anything in your eye, that's where I scream inside my head with delight. YES!!!
Vision is very sharp and crisp just like they say it will be.
Even better than wearing my glasses and the previous pair of lenses I have owned. The claim of HD is really true and I am really impressed with this pair.
I had no watering or itchy eyes when I use them.
I am still searching for the best solution to use with them but so far Renu is doing me quite good.
They are really easy to slide in to your eyes.
Feels moist and non irritating.
Really good for those with sensitive eyes. More expensive but way more worth it :)
Better compared to my old pair of Acuvue for sure.
Hole in my wallet: Rs.1875 for 6 soft contact lenses that come in one box

/I will stick to this till I find the next best thing out there and let you guys know then too :)

What pair are you using currently?

  2. I'm so jealous of all you normal lens wearers! Lol! Since I have astigmatism, I have to wear horribly thick lenses. :( They be so uncomfortable. I'm glad you found your HG lenses though! :D I have to stick to glases. T^T

  3. @Preetha, what have you changed to now? :)

  4. @Nisha, oh, that's so sad. I have a friend with astigmatism who gets them specially made to order from London and I think they make really good thin ones there for those who have astigmatism. thick lenses are too uncomfy!!

  7. @Riddi, that's really sad. You have very sensitive eyes then, a friend of mine suffers the same as her cornea gets irritated to the slightest foreign body in her eye.

  8. @Niesha, these are good ones. What have you switched to now? Any favourites? :)

  10. @varsha, do ask at your opticians for a trial pair of these to test it out. It was totally worth the buy for me and just yesterday I was using it at a function and believe me I was so happy to not be in my glasses. Gave me so much confidence :)

  11. They sound fabulous! I only wear my glasses, contact lenses apparently can really scar my eyes due to my eye issues but if I wore contacts I would be lookin into these!

  16. Hey,

Thanks for your review. I have been using B&L SofLens 59 since several years, and thinking of trying these out due to a discount offer online. Have you used SofLens 59 before? How much of a difference do you feel if so.

    1. Nishant, I feel these are the BEST B and L lenses that I have ever used till date. I used to find the Soflens 59 uncomfortable as I have very sensitive eyes. these really are far better in terms of comfort and length of use. Kindly let me know which site is offering a discount, i need to re-stock on this pair too. infact, I am looking if there is anything better than this now because these are really too good. you can request a trial pair from a nearby optician, am sure they will give it to you

    2. I had asked my optician earlier, he didn't really have any. Anyway, I'm going to take your suggestion and order now. There's a 478/- discount on them, so doesn't hurt trying. :) Use "supersaver30" coupon on LensKart.com. It's only for this weekend.

    3. Hi Nish, you really won't be disappointed if the lenses are brand new, they should work perfectly well. What solution are using for lenses? thanks for the coupon code. :) I'll stock them up.

    4. You're welcome! I'm using ReNu.

    5. Hey I received them and tried one pair but I don't know why they feel uncomfortable.. I still wore them for half a day.. initially they would move with the eyeball.. and then it got stable but felt burning sensation throughout the day.. and after I removed them too I wasn't feeling so good. Have written to LensKart about returns and they've asked me to mail them back, they might exchange it for my usual SofLens 59 :(

    6. Nishant, I believe you received a faulty pair. that's terrible!!!! I bought this myself after being recommended by a male yoga teacher who told me that if I wanted to wear something for 18 hours without the slightest discomfort then I should go for these. I have bought mine from an optician though and they gave me a trial pair on my insistence because it's a lot of money to spend on something if it does suit the eye ball. I have never had any of the experiences you have stated so I believe you got a faulty pair. INfact, the first time I wore it, I was so amazed at how fresh and light they felt. Infact, even the vision was far more superior than my spectacles even after a month of wearing it. Kindly look into the reason, ask them to give a fresh pair with this year's manufacture date on it. I won't be going back to any other product because of how good this is. But if you think they may be selling inferior products online, then please note that. Also try to get the same trial pair in your optician store locally. try the difference. I can't believe you found it bad.

      Delete
    7. Now I am very very sure you got some bad product, no wonder they give such faltoo discounts online. this is very sad

    8. I'm not sure bout this particular one, however until now everything I bought from them has been fine. In fact luckily today I found a misplaced sealed SofLens 59 pair I had bought from them.. to use for the time-being while I return them. Feeling good using them :') And yeah even I wondered why such a costly and higher range product has to feel so uncomfy. The expiry date is 2016-05 however.

    9. BTW they're not charging me for the returns, just have to handover the entire package to nearest BlueDart, so customer service-wise no issue.

      Delete
    10. That's good, Nishant. Tell them though that the contact lenses gave you problem in your eyes when it's supposed to be a superior quality lens. Also when you are exchanging it for the other lenses, ask them to send you a fresh trial pair of the same HD lense you ordered so you can test again whether the earlier pair really was defective or that it just did not suit you.

    11. Hey, want to update you that they gave me store credits in return of that. So I can choose to buy the usual SofLens 59 for now. They don't offer trial pairs. Will see in the future about PureVision now.

    12. Hi, Nishant. Am glad you got refunded. Do let me know how the Soflens 59 turn out when you buy from them. I am using the Purevision for tomorrow night's party...new year after all, hope you get to try a trial pair at your local optician some time. I find it really good. Happy new Year :)

  18. I have been using O2 optix by CIBA vision......i have no problems so far, but was considering buying bausch and lomb...i need to restock my lens and there are fabulous discounts online...can anyone suggest which is better..softlens59 or purevision2HD...what is the basic difference apart from water content?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have yet to check out CIBA Vision. I really love my Purevision 2HD and I know it will be very hard for me to replace them with something better until something better is brought out by the brand. I have not personally tried softlens59 but considering the price difference between the two I feel Purevision is much better in term of build of the lens.

    1. yes, Nishant is available he would be able to talk about softlens59 which he finds suits him better. I suggest you ask your local optician from whom you are going to buy the lenses to give you a trial pair of both. They never refuse as you are anyway going to buy a pair of lenses from him. just walk in, get your eye tested from them and tell them you want trial pairs of these two.

    2. sorry, i meant IF Nishant is available :)

    3. Hey,

I've been using SofLens 59 since a decade now. I've never tried any other brands either. I began with yearly disposable then switched to monthly. I find them comfortable enough through the day but yeah there are times when it has gotten a bit discomforting, I guess maybe it depends on your eyes too if sometimes they're tired or sleep-deprived, or the lenses are nearing the end of the monthly cycle. Or if you've worn them since early morning through a hard day and it's past 9-10pm then you'll begin to feel the discomfort. So you can say they last 15-18 hrs.

Like Coral crue said, PV2 work for her. Maybe the ones I purchased were defective, so I haven't given them a second try yet. The best way is to get trial packs of both, then decide by yourself, if SofLens work for you or PV2 are worth the 2x cost.

    4. Awww thank you so much for your amazing comment, Nishant. Am sure it will help many people decide on their lenses. How I wish they'd invented a lens that could be worn for a whole month without infections or worrying about it hurting the eye. maybe in the distant future. Happy new Year, Nishant :) thanks again

    5. My pleasure. :) Happy New Year to you too!

Well, there are such lenses that can be worn for an entire month without the need to take them off at nights. Not sure if you know about them, but you can do a quick search for "Extended wear contact lenses". They might be costlier and also can't say for sure about the comfort and safety level and stuff, but yeah they're there.

    6. Yes, But they are so uncomfy and unhygienic. have tried them and they are not upto the mark.

  20. thank you nishant and definitely to coral crue for such a lovely review........has helped me a lot .

  24. Coral crue,

Can you tell me what the difference between the Purevision2 and Purevision2HD lenses are? I have a trial version of the green tinted Purevision2 for astigmatism that are pretty thick. I thought I read somewhere you had posted the Purevision2HD were thinner lenses than the regular Purevision2 lenses and I was trying to clarify that. Any other differences between the two that you can tell me will be of great help as well. I appreciate it!!

Anyone that has knowledge of this, by all mean, please feel free to respond, I just directed to Coral crue bc I thought I had seen a post from her talking about this in her blog but wanted clarification. I use to wear contact lenses all the time, but never for astigmatism SOECIFICALLY, even though I have had it all my life. I had LASIK in 2003, but due to a bad car wreck in 2009, the meds I'm on cause severe dry eye and I need eyeglasses and contact now. The doctor I saw decided to fit me for the astigmatism in my right eye. Very weird having a thin contact in my left eye and a thicker on in my right eye!! :-) Thanks everyone!!

  25. Sorry, I don't know yet what trial pair I have for my left eye. It worked the first try so we haven't discussed it. We are still playing with getting the right eye right and I opened the package myself is how I saw the name brand of the contact I was being fitted for. I will know more later this week and can update about the brand for the left eye.

  26. I have been using B & L Soflens 59 for many years, and my doctor has advised me to switch over to PureVision2. I find the new lenses gets air bubble and I am unable to remove it as it keeps coming back. I notice that though BC of both lenses are 8.6mm, the dia of PV2 is 14.0mm against `14.2mm of SG59. I wish to know, experience of others and also if this is a normal experience when switching over to new material and after few days it would get settled? Thanks for any advise from people on this forum.

  27. I believe the diameter has not got anything to do with the air bubble. I have also switched from regular to pure vision and find it excellent in comparison. I use a lot of solution before popping the lens in my eye. I have not faced the problem of air bubbles. Please connect with your ophthalmologist and try to resolve this issue. perhaps you may have been provided defective lenses and the company will issue you a good pair if you raise the matter with your doctor.
