Sunday Special Idli Sambar!!!
Do you know what I love most about Sundays? The part where I get to sleep in, stay up late till the wee hours of morning or where if I get lucky I may get to tuck into a wonderful plate of biryani?
Yes, all those but it's my favourite day mostly because at home we get specially prepared idli and sambar which is the best I have had anywhere. I wake up and roll out of bed and get treated to this lovely fare :)
Oh joy! Today is Sunday. The fluffiest idlis are waiting for me.
I also prefer to have the same for dinner. Since it's cooked in huge lots at home to feed an army there is always left overs for dinner.
I also prefer eating them this way. I don't dip each into a bowl of piping hot Sambar. I dunk all of it on top and eat this way. Convenient and seasoned to perfection.
So what's special at your home for Sunday?

DeleteReading your blog at 3 AM & now I have such a strong idli sambhar craving! This is one thing we don't know to make at home so I'll probably order some from the nearby restaurant at an earthly hour.
ReplyDeleteBoy, we seem to be awake and hungry at the same time. I am craving it again now after seeing your comment but it's all over. Shucks!
DeleteI'm not a fan of idli but I love dosas! My mom makes idlis in huge batches which is convenient for her since she doesn't have to break her head as to what to make for dinner but I make dosas for myself. :D And I need a chutney. always. :D
ReplyDeleteIncidentally I had dosa today for breakfast, I was never a fan of idlis but after switching households now I enjoy these with the kind of sambar they prepare here. I dunk it in and love eating it as a whole meal now. It is really convenient to make idlis in large batches. Poor mums all around the world. Yes, with dosa I always always need a chutney, i don't like sambar with it.
Deletewow..i love idli n sambhar...looks yummy....
